Docs by the Sea (DBTS) is an annual international documentary lab and forum based in Indonesia, dedicated to cultivating creative documentary projects from Asia towards international collaboration and distribution opportunities. Docs by the Sea alumni projects have attracted the attention of the documentary industry, being accepted by more than 100 international forums and more than 200 film and broadcast festivals.
Since 2023, In-Docs has been working with Cannes Docs to present 4 Asian documentary projects every year in Docs-in-Progress through Docs by the Sea Showcase. In 2025, Docs by the Sea participated in Berlinale’s EFM Doc Toolbox.
In-Docs is a non-profit institution committed to cultivating a culture of openness through documentary film. In-Docs believes in the power of documentary film to spark conversations,touch hearts, open minds, and enable change. In-Docs is committed to strengthening the documentary film ecosystem in Asia through capacity building and networking with the international industry. Together with the Creative Economy Agency, In-Docs initiated Docs by the Sea as an annual international documentary event since 2017.
In 2022, for its contribution to the development of stories in Southeast Asia, In-Docs received the Silver Screen Award from the Singapore International Film Festival.
