Pailin Wedel
206 Unearthed
Pailin is a half-Thai, half-American journalist and filmmaker who grew up in Bangkok. Pailin works on documentaries that focus on themes of faith, trauma and the clash between the east and west. HOPE FROZEN, her first feature-length documentary film as director/producer, is about a Thai-Buddhist family of scientists who decided to cryopreserve their two-year-old daughter after she died. It won Best International Documentary Feature at HOTDOCS, the largest documentary film festival in North America, qualifying it for the Oscars.
