While majoring English at a local university, Nina is creating podcasts about her indigenous Mollo culture, their relationship with nature, and how they fought for their territory. For Mollo people, the stones are their bone. The river is their blood. The forest is their hair. The land is their flesh. When marble mining projects started in Molo in the late 1990s, Mama Leta, Nina’s mother, rose to be the leader of the 10-year resistance. Nina was born during this most intense time. Now those years have gone, five mining sites have been closed, but threats against Mollo’s natural resources continue to emerge. How does Mama Leta continue the fight while allowing the next generation to participate?
