Caught between the life they dream of living and familial duties, two Singaporean aunties attempt to drive their campervan from Malaysia to Norway, embarking on their last great adventure together.
Uncon-van-tional Aunties! follows Norah and Susie, a queer couple in their sixties, as they attempt their most ambitious overland journey yet: driving in their campervan from Malaysia to Norway.
Witnessing the decline of their ageing parents has forced both women to confront their own mortality. Susie’s mother lives with dementia, leaving Susie torn between the guilt of leaving her family behind and the desire to make the most of the years she has left. Meanwhile as the main driver, Norah worries that her worsening health may soon make long-distance overlanding a mere pipe dream. Brought up in a conservative Muslim family, she has spent much of her life navigating the tension between familial expectations and living her own truth.
Caught between familial duties and the promise of the open road, Norah and Susie embark on what may be their last great adventure. As health challenges, mechanical breakdowns, and the uncertainty of the road test both their resolve and relationship, Uncon-van-tional Aunties! is an intimate portrait of love, ageing, and family. For anyone who has ever felt that the world was not built for them, it is a story about the courage to choose your path before the road runs out.
