Birthing On Country

Through the journey of young Indigenous woman Kalinda, ‘Birthing On Country’ explores traditional practices intersecting with colonial injustices, weaving diverse birth stories to reclaim narratives of resilience and cultural strength.

“Birthing On Country” follows Kalinda Palmer’s journey to revive traditional Indigenous birthing practices amidst Australia’s colonial history. Through the birthing stories of Australia’s first people, this documentary contrasts these significant practices with western healthcare systems, emphasising resilience and cultural renewal while challenging historical and contemporary perspectives on Indigenous birthing practices.
