Up to the Buffallo

A quiet portrait of a borderland wetland in transition where buffalo vanish, stories sink and memories resurface in unexpected places.

Set in the transforming landscape of Wiang Nong Lom in northern Thailand, Up to the Buffalo quietly observes a rural community where the rhythms of daily life are slowly fractured. As dredging projects reshape the wetlands and borderland economies blur old lines of belonging, spontaneous grasslands and shallow ponds disappear, cutting off the soft trails where buffalo once roamed and villagers once gathered. What begins as a silent portrait of human-animal intimacy gradually evolves into a layered reflection on ecological loss, economic dislocation and the unseen violence of imposed development.
